MUD CITY

About six weeks ago (mid April) we felled all those trees in our front yard. Before we could do anything else in the yard we had to get rid of trees and put them somewhere. So, of course, we used the ATV and hauled them to the log pile and built the kid's log house with the big ones. After that the real landscaping was going to start.
We actually continued each weekend on one thing or another after that, but things have been so crazy busy around here, that I haven't had a chance to post until recently. So now you will see how much has happened!
The day that Ray promised the bobcat was coming, was so exciting!!! When we lived in the country in our old house, it was never landscaped. Ray worked so hard at jobs and always had a long drive at the end of the day, and so landscaping just never happened. Here, it was another story. I was *determined* that I would have a yard first thing. I knew if it was put off, it might never happen this year. So the second the thaw happened, we all got to work. Last summer, the boys and I worked until the bitter end, in that yard - raking and hauling and clearing. So this spring we were quite ready for the final work.
The first job was to be the driveway. Ray rented a bobcat and ran that little thing around the yard leveling the driveway and the area that the sports court was to be put, and also flattening the 'lawn' areas.

The little boys thought it was wonderful!! Briton and Cooper and Austin all got hours and hours of rides in the machine with Ray.

My beautiful driveway!!! In our old house we had mud in the fall and mud in the spring. It is perfectly heavenly to know that I can leave my house and get into my van and not cart mud with me! Before our driveway was put in, we would have friends come over, and we would have to put out a plank for them to get across the deep mud! No more! *smile*
