Up to this point the kids had not been swimming in the hotel pools, because our days were so long with sightseeing and also, I did not want them out in pools while they were working of the last of their bug. Now they are all healthy, with just coughs dragging out.
This morning, Day 5, we got up bright and early and planned to leave before 10:00 am. I got the kids packed and to the car and found our battery was dead. After calling AAA I got a jump and thankfully we were on the road about 20 minutes off the plan. I have been so fortunate, because I have found that everywhere I have driven has been easy! This is remarkable, since I have been maneuvering around San Francisco and Los Angeles!!
We hit the road and got on the 101. We were supposed to change at San Jose and head for the coast, but I didn't read my map in time and ended up heading further south than I intended. I drove down this road, off the freeway and found this busdriver sitting out in his bus in the middle of nowhere. I ran up and asked him for directions - he gave them - and then off he drove. Too perfect! I ended up having to cross from the 101 over to the coast road further on down the 101. The roads were beautiful and it turned out to be a great mistake!

Once we got to the coast road we found Monterey. We took an hour and stopped there and had a quick run through the Fisherman's Wharf and saw all the fishing boats and the yachts. The kids heard the sea lions under the wharf. The skies were blue and the weather had warmed up somewhat, so it was really pleasant.
