After we left the border we drove and drove. I had a burst of energy. We were supposed to stop at Bellingham, but then it seemed pointless since our next day was going to be about 6 hours+ of driving and the little ones were sleeping. So we kept going.
Austin woke up soon when he heard Dane and Cassidy exclaiming about the beauty of Seattle. The overpasses that passed over each other in various ways, the arches that were covered in lights, the tall tower (is it called the Sears Tower?) - it was beautiful lit up at night!
We quickly passed Seattle and I was still energetic! I told Dane I would drive til midnight and then we would stop. He was my navigator. He had my laptop computer and the Rand McNally Trip Maker. I would give him origins and destinations and he would tell me how far it was. It is a great way to know how far to drive.
Finally I was feeling tired and it was 11:56pm. We looked for an exit and found one in a small town. I thought it would be a great place to stay, because I saw it had Factory Outlets. Well, *every* girl loves Factory Outlet Stores!! So we pulled off and followed the signs. I quickly realized we had found the town that time had forgotten, or perhaps it was the town that is used in all the 'weird' movies!!! We drove past a couple motels and saw a sign saying, "Center of town" and followed that. Funny thing was the center of town was older and more derelict than the area right off the freeway.
As we were driving we found this remarkable place!! We took some pictures and then went back the next day to take some more! As you can imagine, the neighbours built their fences about 8' tall!

Since there were no hotels that we recognized the names of, we decided to drive back to the beginning of town and take a little motel. It was a name we 'knew', but didn't know the reputation of.

We got our room and I have to tell you, it was interesting! It felt so icky!!! There was dried food in the refrigerator, hair on the pillows, no stopper in the sink (don't drop your rings!), stains on the quilts, and a broken light by the bed.

The boys didn't even want to walk on the carpet *grin* - or me! I told them to consider it an adventure and have fun. After finding hair on their pillow and not knowing who slept there before us, we all covered our pillows and then slept soundly!
